About

I’m Catherine, a “30-something” Aussie, married to Pete – the most amazing bloke in the world, and mum to 2 fabulous kids. I am a teacher and play therapist and love the challenge of working with kids who have experienced trauma or who struggle at school for a variety of other reasons. I have taught in Australia and Kenya in a few different schools, with a bunch of amazing kids. Pete and I recently decided to look into work opportunities in Kenya in the hope we could return there for a while with the kids. But in a twist that can only be orchestrated by God, we are now headed to Rwanda!

This blog will be a way to record our journey and adventures, and probably a lot of other things along the way!

Why have I called the blog ‘Look to the Hills’? Rwanda is known as ‘the land of a thousand hills’ and this verse really stood out to me as we began to look up the long and daunting road that will lead us to those thousand hills:

I lift up my eyes to the mountains – where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.

Psalm 121:1&2 ~

‘And hang on for dear life’? In my experience, when you follow where God leads you’re in for a ride! Not always easy, not always comfortable, overwhelmingly exciting, encouraging, humbling and challenging, but well worth it in the end.

So glad to have you along for the ride!
